Career Preparation for Theatre, Commercials, TV & Film; moving to a theatre city Prepare for Actors Equity Association’s “Equity Membership Candidate” program Professional Theatre Opportunities LEADERSHIP The Altamont Theatre Conservatory is headed by Christopher Lynn, Managing Director of the Altamont Theatre, a veteran theatre performer, and instructor in the renowned Brevard Music Center’s Young Vocal Artists Program. His students have gone on to study and earn scholarships in prestigious programs at the Julliard School (New York City), North Carolina School of the Arts, Elon College and Emerson College (Boston). His performing and directing experience includes Raoul in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “PHANTOM OF THE OPERA”, Tony in “WEST SIDE STORY”, The Beast in Disney’s “BEAUTY & THE BEAST”, and ABC-TV’s "One Life to Live." THE CONSERVATORY PROGRAM The Altamont Theatre Conservatory admits students in three grade/age divisions, mirroring a school model of elementary, middle and high school. Students progress with colleagues at similar developmental and age-based interest levels through the program. 1) Altamont Conservatory Youth Company grades 3-5 (approximate ages 8-11) 2) Altamont Conservatory Company grades 6-8 & 9-12 (approximate ages 11-14 & 15-19) KEY FEATURES & BENEFITS Experienced, nurturing & compelling instructors & directors, who are professional artists. Workshops and master-classes with world-class performing artists, and visiting performers to the Altamont Theatre Stage. Insider opportunities with the Altamont Theatre’s visiting performers, including Backstage visits and cast interviews. Performance opportunities under the guidance of professional artistic team, geared toward students’ progress. Productions will be selected for specific student’s needs. Career guidance & mentoring from seasoned professionals to identify strengths, challenges, set goals and achieve student potential. Guided annual Big City Theatre trip to places like New York City, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Minneapolis (Additional cost) Progressive curriculum, ensuring students learn key skills that build and reinforce. Admission by audition and recommendation. Limited class sizes. Advanced students form a supportive team, making great strides together at an accelerated level. MUSICAL COACHING &: VOICE TEACHER REFERRAL GUIDANCE -Young singers need knowledgeable guidance to use their natural voices and avoid imitating older, mature voices they may hear. We recommend ensemble singing, and progressing to music lessons when advisable for each student's particular voice and focus.  EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS OVERVIEW: Weekly Acting Skills Class Weekly Performance Classes -Rehearsal/Scene Study/Special Topics (to apply acting techniques learned in skills classes) Weekly Broadway Theatre Jazz Class Weekly Broadway Theatre Singing Class (ensemble & some solo singing) Staged Performances Monthly short voice-lessons (3 per term, to periodically guide each individual’s progress) Annual Company Retreats (small script & supply fee required) Professional Workshops and In-class Professional guest artist sessions (i.e. Stage Combat & Movement; Costumes, Stage Make-up & Hair, On-Camera Acting) ALTAMONT CONSERVATORY COMPANY Grades 6-8, Ages 11-14  and  Grades 9-12, Ages 14-18 Begins Week of August 31, 2009, runs through mid-June, 2010 Summer programmed separately CLASSES: Monday 4:45-6:00 Acting Skills 6:00-7:00 Performance Rehearsal, Scene Study & Special Topics Thursday 4:45-6:00 Performance Rehearsal, Scene Study & Special Topics 6:00-7:00 Broadway Jazz 7:00-7:30 Ensemble Broadway Sing Saturday 10:00-12:00 Occasionally scheduled Professional Guest Artist Workshops/ Rehearsals during last pre-show weeks. PRICING: $2600 per year Monthly payment plan: $260 per month for 10 months, Sept. through June, due 1st of each month.
